Causes of prostate cancer
In fact the specific cause of prostate cancer is still unknown. The risk of prostate cancer in men is related to age, genetics, race, diet, lifestyle, medication etc. Age is the primary factor. This is the reason why prostate cancer is mostly seen in men above 45-years of age.
Genetic background of men contributes to the risk of prostate cancer. It is found in certain racial groups, genes and in identical twins of men. In United States it is more common in black than in white or Hispanic men.
Dietery factors also increases the risk of prostate cancer. Studies say that the mineral selenium may also increase the risk. Low-fat milk and other dairy products in which vitamin A palmitate has been added increases the risk of prostate cancer. This is because synthetic vitamin A reacts with the zinc and protein and forms an unabsorbable complex.
