Maltese President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca is on a 3-day visit to Ghana to strengthen bilateral ties as well as enhance economic cooperation between Malta and Ghana.
She arrived Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday in the Ghanian capital Accra with spouse Edgar Preca. Both were welcomed by Ghanian Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
She is leading a delegation of business people from Malta who are looking for opportunities to invest in Africa.
The couple is scheduled to visit on Thursday the HopeXChange Medical Centre, which is an 80-bed hospital and build by Malta under the initiatives to develop other such infrastructures including orphanages.
Mr and Mrs Preca are also learned to be watching a football match between Accra Academy and National Under 17 Team at the Asamoah Djan Sports Complex.
The leader will depart Ghana on July 29, Friday.
Born on 7 December 1958 Mrs Preca became the youngest person to be appointed as the President of Malta. She took oath on 4 April 2014 at the age of 55. Previously she was member of the Labour Party. She was Member of Parliament from 1998 to 2014.
As a president Preca succeeded George Abela.
