Emaar Group To Build World’s Tallest Tower In Dubai Following Burj Khalifa

Soon Burj Khalifa may not be the tallest tower in the world. Dubai’s flagship developer Emaar Properties has unveiled plans to come up with the highest rise in the Middle Eastern emirate.

Burj Khalifa too was built by Emaar group and it currently tops out at 828 meters. It was completed in 2010 and has since then become a tourist attraction.

The new building may contain an observation deck and a small hotel. It will be ready to use before the World Expo fair scheduled to be held in Dubai in 2020.

According to statement of Emaar Properties, the tower would be situated next to Dubai’s creek and adjacent to a wildlife sanctuary.

Chairman of the company Mohamed Alabbar said, “It [the height] will probably be announced when we open the tower but it will be a notch taller than the Burj Khalifa.”

The upcoming tallest building will be named as “The Tower.” It is designed by the a Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava Valls, the company that also worked on the railway station at the rebuilt World Trade Center site in New York.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia seems to be in a race to build tallest tower in the world with Jeddah Economic Co. may open by 2019 the tallest skyscraper.
